Children’s entertainment: The Keith and Sleepy Show
Hello! I’m Sleepy the Koala and my friend Keith
Binns and I put on a Show which
goes for about 50 minutes. Now, I’m not a real koala and I’m NOT
a puppet. I’m a 50 cm high soft-toy and I only talk to Keith.
(Keith, however, is a real person.)
If you want to find out more about Keith, look in the
biography.
The show begins with me asleep in my travel cot. Keith
comes on with his guitar and sings some songs both to and with the children, and
then they wake me up. I have a back-pack on. I’m only three years old and have
been practising going to pre-school. Keith investigates what I’ve got in my
pack. This includes some nuts, a very old lunch, a cape so I can become Super
Sleepy and a kazoo which I can play. There is no story line and I’m NOT a
puppet. (So please, don’t advertise us as a puppet show.)
The children get to sing lots and do lots of things. When
Keith asks a question, he always listens and acts on the answers so the children
don’t get bored and always pay attention.
We also have two special Christmas Shows,
one with me and one with my friend Kringle
the Christmas Kangaroo.
What
other people say:
You don’t just have to believe me about the show.
Here’s what some other people had to say:
“Children very much enjoyed the Koala Show and look
forward to another visit. The comment generally from people was how well you
involved the children.” Kelly McMahon, Cooma Lambie Street Pre-School,
Cooma.
“…fast moving to keep even the younger children’s
attention
-plenty of child/audience participation.
PS The children send their love to Sleepy. It’s
amazing how often the 2 of you come up in conversation.” C. Goldsborough,
Kookaburra Child Care Centre, Punchbowl.
“Highly entertaining and lots of fun and even the staff enjoyed it. Recommended to any child centre wanting a fun, entertaining and educational show.” Tracy Gretch, Jenday Pre-School Kindergarten, Punchbowl.
